The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) allows members to use post-nominals to recognize their professional qualifications in management accounting. Eligible members can use the following post-nominals:
- CMA: Certified Management Accountant
- AMA: Associate Management Accountant
- GMA: Graduate Management Accountant
- RBA: Registered Business Accountant
- RCA: Registered Cost Accountant
- CAT: Certified Accounting Technician
- MAA: Management Accounting Affiliate
Note: Student members are not entitled to use post-nominals.
Post-nominals should be used after the member’s name, e.g., Joe Citizen CMA, on business cards, correspondence, professional profiles, and similar documentation. This practice provides public recognition of their commitment to professional development and the management accounting profession.
Members may use ICMA post-nominals alongside other recognized academic and professional qualifications, such as Joe Citizen MBA (Harvard), CPA, CMA. However, using ICMA post-nominals with unaccredited qualifications, like Joe Citizen PhD (Degree Mill U), is not permitted. Members found using such unaccredited post-nominals will be asked to stop, or they risk losing their ICMA membership status.

Post-nominals signal a member’s education, training, and professionalism, providing assurance to potential employers and clients of their skill and competence.
Members must renew their membership annually to continue using post-nominals. Only financial members (up-to-date with subscriptions) are eligible. The ICMA Executive may withdraw this privilege if a member becomes non-financial or breaches the ICMA Code of Professional Conduct.
